Biography
Tim is an Australian based saxophonist, woodwind instrumentalist & composer/improvisor, who has performed with a broad range of artists and ensembles including Ray Charles, Robbie Williams, Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Lalah Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Art Orchestra, Wyecliffe Gordon, Wayne Bergeron, Michael Buble, Bobby Shew, James Morrison, & Mike Nock.
Tim was a finalist at the National Jazz Awards (Wangaratta Jazz Festival, 2009) and the White Foundation World Saxophone Competition (BBC Jazz Festival, London, 2004), and runner-up in the Taichung Saxophone Competition (Taiwan, 2013). He won the 2017 Bell Award with Andrea Keller for “Award for Best Australian Instrumental Album”.
His discography as a band leader/coleader includes 12 CDs to date including 2 with his trio (‘An Element of Logic’ - 1999, 'Sorry, Pardon, What? - 2004), 3 live duo cds (‘Life That Lingers’ - 2009, ‘Consider This’ – 2016, ‘Outside In’ - 2022) with ARIA award winning pianist Andrea Keller, 5 cds and a live double DVD/CD with his jazz/world music project Logic (’Logic’ - 2001, ‘The Waiting Game’ - 2004, ‘Native Strut’ - 2008, ‘The Hierarchy’ - 2010, ‘Live’ - 2012, ‘One Tribe’ - 2017), and a live cd with Cannonball (‘Cannonball Live’ - 2013).
Tim is featured as a sideman on many other jazz cds including Mike Nock (Meeting of the Waters), Jamie Oehler's 'Blowfish', Nina Ferro’s ‘Recollections’, Paul Williamson Sextet, Luoda and the 'Glenn Cannon Band'.
Tim is also active in the commercial music scene and has played on the 'Logie Awards', John Foreman’s ‘Big Night In’, ‘Dancing with the Stars’, ‘It Takes Two’, 'Good Morning Australia', 'Carols By Candlelight', 'Starstruck', and 'The Footy Show'.
